Proton’s April 2026 sales revealed - Saga & X50 lead, e.MAS 7 tops Malaysia’s PHEV charts

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton has revealed the sales numbers for April 2026. During the first month of the second quarter, the national automaker sold a total of 18,156 units (including ICE, EV and PHEV models), which represents a growth of 15.6% over 15,706 units sold in March 2026. 

Proton’s year-to-date sales are estimated at 67,298 units, which is 40.9% higher than the number of units sold in the same period last year. The market share is estimated at 25% for the month and 26.4% for the year so far.

Looking at the electrified vehicles specifically, the automaker sold a total of 3,420 EV and PHEV models last month, bringing the YTD total to 11,664 units.

Let’s now have a look at the individual performance of Proton cars - 

Proton Saga	Continues to be Proton’s best-selling model with 8,207 units sold in April (up by 50.9% compared to the last month) YTD sales: 29,977 units
Proton X50	Leading the B-segment SUV category with 2,603 units sold in April YTD sales: 10,174 units
Proton S70	Maintaining strong demand in the C-segment sedan category with 2,377 units sold in April (best-ever monthly performance) YTD sales: 8,175 units
Proton X90	Marked its strongest performance since its first launch with 462 units sold in April (up by 43% over the last month)
Proton e.MAS 7	Recorded monthly sales of 636 units in April YTD sales: 1,436 units
Proton e.MAS 5	Recorded monthly sales of 1,771 units in April YTD sales: 8,473 units
Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV	Recorded monthly sales of 1,013 units in April (second full month of sales) Became Malaysia’s best-selling PHEV for the month YTD sales: 1,755 units

“Overall, we are on the right path to achieve our targets for 2026 and with more launches and new initiatives in the pipeline for this year and the next few years beyond, Proton hopes to be able to position itself as the best choice for Malaysian car buyers as well as the country’s leading export OEM,” said Proton Edar CEO Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa.
