Priced from RM58,800 in East Malaysia, the S70 i-GT 1.5 is offered in Lite and Prime variants.
The main difference from the turbocharged S70 is under the bonnet. This version uses a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine paired with a CVT incorporating a torque converter, giving buyers another powertrain option within the S70 range.
Proton groups the sedan’s equipment into what it describes as “10 class-leading features”, covering cabin comfort, convenience, connectivity and safety. Among the features listed are an electric parking brake with Auto Brake Hold, remote engine start, one-touch power windows with anti-trap protection and five USB ports.

The S70’s booking figures sit alongside a wider increase in Proton sales in Sarawak. According to the company, sales in the state rose from 4,270 units in 2018 to a reported 9,870 units in 2026, an increase of around 131%.
The release does not specify the reporting period for the 2026 sales figure.
“The response to the 2026 PROTON S70 i-GT 1.5 across East Malaysia has been very encouraging, with more than 2,000 bookings recorded since bookings opened. The strong interest from customers in both Sabah and Sarawak demonstrates the appeal of a sedan that combines space, comfort, convenience and safety in a well-equipped package.
“Our Sarawak roadshow gives us an opportunity to engage directly with customers, introduce them to the S70 i-GT 1.5 and allow them to experience its features and driving performance firsthand. As PROTON continues to grow in East Malaysia, we remain committed to supporting our customers throughout their ownership journey with reliable aftersales service, trained personnel and access to genuine parts,” said Dato’ Ir Abdul Rashid Musa, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, PROTON.

Parts supply is supported by the Regional Parts Centre in Kuching, which supplies service outlets in the region. The company says its Faster & Better Aftersales Commitment focuses on service efficiency, technical training and ownership support.
For now, the 2,000-plus figure represents bookings rather than completed sales or deliveries. Proton has not provided a delivery breakdown for the S70 i-GT 1.5 in Sabah and Sarawak.
