Honda Jazz receives crossover kit in Japan

KUALA LUMPUR: Ever wondered why the Honda Jazz sold as a hatchback and not as anything beyond? The car does have a very bold and edgy design for a hatchback, besides having a very spacious cabin. But now, the company has turned the car into what we have always wanted it to be, a crossover.

Indeed, the Honda Fit Cross Style (Fit is the Japanese name for the Jazz) is the perfect crossover, albeit with subtle cosmetic updates. The company has added the BR-V styling kit to this Jazz crossover to make it an evident crossover. The addition of black claddings all around has gone up and we now have thick strips of them on the wheel arches and on the side sections. The wheel arches are so thick that the fenders seem to be a part of them.

The alloy wheels have taken a new design besides just the attractive-looking front and rear skid plates. The company has even made subtle changes to the new crossover in order to raise the driving height. This makes sure that the hatchback-turned crossover is nothing less in any department.

However, the most significant addition to this new Fit Cross Style crossover is the all-wheel-drive mechanism. In fact, since this crossover is more like a package, it is offered with the same engine (1.3-litre and 1.5-litre) but has the AWD as the optional addition to it. Hence, now you can have the car with either the front-wheel drive or the all-wheel-drive along with the latter being available for the hybrid trim too.

Get inside the cabin and you will be greeted by a similar feel, which indicates that nothing much has changed in there. However, there are slight tweaks done on the speakers, which are not illuminated. Apart from this, navigation system joins the kit along with a dashcam, which is given as standard.

Since this new crossover kit is for the Fit, it is only available in the Japanese market as of now. We aren’t sure if the Malaysian market would be getting the same or not.
