MINI John Cooper Works Convertible Unveiled

Kuala Lumpur: Ahead of its debut at the New York Motor Show 2016, MINI has unveiled its John Cooper Works Convertible. The automaker has described this car as a vehicle with open-air enjoyment and authentic racing feel. Although it is getting launched in the US, an Australian debut is yet to be confirmed. Recently, MINI also launched its Cooper S Carbon Edition in the US and Clubman F54 variants at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Towards the exterior, it has got a lot of styling tweaks in order to differentiate it from rest of the lineup. The front fascia has been given a more aggressive look with big air vents and huge LED headlights with turn indicators. One can also find a JCW badging and an optional Rebel Green paintwork that is exclusively available for this car. Further, this car rides on standard 17-inch alloy wheels, however, an option of 18-inch alloy wheels is also provided. The rest of the styling has been carried over from its previous hatches versions like large bonnet and red accents on the grille.

Interior of John Cooper Works Convertible gets a high-quality cabin along with a sporty feel. This car is fitted with John Cooper Works sports seats which are further wrapped in Dinamica/fabric Carbon Black. Additional features include powerful air-conditioning, stainless steel pedals and parking sensors. Moreover, it also gets a 6.5-inch touchscreen which is further assisted with MINI Connected infotainment system. Further, it gets a fully automatic fabric roof which can be opened and closed in just 18 seconds at a maximum speed of 31 kmph.

Under the hood, it is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine which churns out a maximum power of 228 hp along with a peak torque of 320 Nm. Further, it can complete a century sprint in just 6.6 seconds with its six-speed manual transmission and 6.5 seconds with its six-speed automatic transmission along with a top speed of 242 kmph. Moreover, the fuel consumption of this car comes to 15.3 kmpl. MINI has set a benchmark in providing competent power with a significant fuel efficiency in a compact package and with MINI JCW Convertible, the brand has kept its legacy intact.

Although everything about this car is already revealed, but to get up-close and personal we would have to wait until its launch at the New York Motor Show 2016. In Malaysia, the MINI JCW has gathered a lot of appreciation from the customers and it is expected if the convertible comes in the market then it will be an added advantage for the British marque in enhancing its sales number in the country in an effective manner.
