MINI Paul Smith Edition launched in Malaysia, limited units on offer

KUALA LUMPUR: MINI Malaysia has launched a special edition of the all-electric Cooper SE in collaboration with the legendary British designer Paul Smith. Available in limited numbers, the 2026 MINI Paul Smith Edition features exclusive design touches, bringing the Smith’s “Icon with a Twist” design language to the electric hatchback.

What makes the MINI Paul Smith Edition exclusive?

Notably, the brand has a long-term creative collaboration with Paul Smith that began with the original classic Mini Paul Smith Edition in 1998. However, this is the first time their creation is available at a larger production scale. Exclusive highlights are as follows - 

• The special model features Nottingham Green accents on key exterior elements, such as the side mirrors, the octagonal radiator grille, and the hub caps.
• The roof is also sprayed in Nottingham Green and features the Paul Smith Signature Stripe along the edge between the B- and C-pillars.
• The limited-edition hatchback runs on 18-inch Slide Spoke alloy wheels in Dark Steel accent colour, which are also finished in Nottingham Green and incorporates the Paul Smith logo.

• Further highlighting the exclusivity of the EV is “Hello” mirror projection in Paul Smith’s handwriting, “Paul Smith” lettering on the tailgate, and Blue/Black MINI logos.
• Inside, you get Nightshade Blue JCW Sports seats with Paul Smith’s Signature Stripe detailing and a full-width Shadow Stripe dashboard upholstery.
• The cabin welcomes you with “Every day is a new beginning” message on the door sills in Paul Smith’s handwriting, along with a hand-drawn rabbit motif embroidered into the floor mat. 
• The steering wheel comes with a textile band with the iconic Paul Smith Signature Stripe and Paul Smith logo, while the MINI Interaction Unit gets three exclusive backgrounds designed by Paul Smith.
• This playful creation is available in two colours - Inspired White and Statement Grey.

In terms of mechanical setup, the special model remains identical to the Cooper SE. That means, it is powered by a front electric motor tuned to generate a maximum power of 218 PS and a peak torque of 330 Nm. The EV runs from zero to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds and achieves a top speed of 170 kmph.

Feeding the motor is a 54.2-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery, which offers a WLTP-claimed range of up to 402 km. It supports 11 kW AC charging and 95 kW DC fast charging, the latter juices up 10-80% battery in less than 30 minutes.
