Mugen revealed accessories for Honda S660 in Japan

KUALA LUMPUR: Honda S660 is a powerful two-seater Kei sports car manufactured by Honda, which received an update earlier this year. And, now the tuned version of this mid-engined small roadster is making the headlines. It is tuned by Mugen, a company renowned for fettling Honda models. Though it is not the first time when the Japanese tuner spiced up the sports car, it has already shown its magic on the pre-facelift model. 

Mugen released a new range of parts for the pint-sized car to make it even sportier than stock. However, the powertrain under the bonnet remains unchanged because of the regulations for this vehicle category in Japan. That is an S07A 660-cc turbocharged DOHC three-cylinder mill generating 64 PS of power and 104 Nm of torque. For transmission, there is either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT with paddle shifters behind the wheel.

For the exterior, the custom parts made of vacuum-formed PPE (Polyphenylene Ether) include a front aero bumper, side skirts, and rear aero bumper. The new front bumper of Honda S660 is decked in a two-tone finish combining the car’s body colour with a Dark Gun metallic paint, which can be teamed up with optional LED fog lamps and aero illumination. 

At the same time, the rear aero bumper is compatible with both the Mugen sports silencer as well as the standard muffler. In the modified version, it exclusively comes in the vehicle’s body colour. For the further finishing, side sills are there to complement the splitter at the front, which includes an inlet near the rear fender that does not appear to be functional.

Mugen also offers a set of wheels with eight spokes in a Graphite Gun metallic finish, measuring 15-inch in diameter in front and 16-inch at the back shod with 165/55 R15 and 195/45 R16 tyres, respectively.

Along with these visual mods, the tuned S660 comes with a chassis damper kit that eliminates unpleasant micro-vibrations and noises, and improves steering stability, according to the company.

Honda S660 upgrade kit is exclusive to the Japanese market. By the end of this year, Mugen also has plans to launch more custom parts for the roadster.
