Nissan cars prices slashed, courtesy Zero GST Policy
KUALA LUMPUR: The entire Nissan lineup has suffered a reduction in prices. The cars are now cheaper by a minimum of RM3.8k. This is the result of a cut from 6 percent GST (goods and services tax) to a Zero GST policy by the new Pakatan Harapan government. The policy will take effect from June 1, 2018.
It is said that the GST will be replaced by the SST (sales and services tax) in future but when is still unknown. According to Tun Daim Zainuddin, the head of the government’s council of eminent persons, it would take around two-three months to completely switch over to SST.
Until then, the new on-the-road (OTR) prices (excluding insurance prices) without GST will remain legitimate. Please take a note that GST is applied only on the car’s selling price and not on the OTR price which is a result of the addition of other prices like vehicle registration fee, road tax, and ownership endorsement fee. Insurance is also an additional entity.
The prices of all cars in the Nissan lineup including X-Trail, Serena (C26), Serena (C27), Teana, Almera, Grand Livina, X-Gear, and Navara have been slashed.
Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has revised the entire price sheet with the X-Trail 2.0-litre Comfort getting cheaper by RM7.7k while its top-of-the-line variant, the X-Trail 2.5-litre Premium Impul receiving a price reduction of RM9.4k. The least difference of RM3.8k in prices can be seen on the Almera 1.5E MT.
