Renault presents shape-shifting concept car Morphoz, foretells future of electric
KUALA LUMPUR: The cancellation of Geneva Motor Show couldn’t stop Renault from introducing its new concept car, to the world. Named as the Renault Morphoz, the car shows a glimpse of the French company’s idea to propagate the idea of efficient vehicle ownership.
The Morphoz concept car possesses a freakish ability to shorten or lengthen its body and wheelbase on command, depending on the user's requirements. It’s like two SUV’s combined into one, one for the city and one for the voyage. It is going to be an all-electric car, with this extraordinary capability to physically expand and change its range. A concept like this is truly offbeat and has never been seen before.
This concept car takes the shape of a crossover or rather a mix of SUV and sedan. With a four-door coupe, short overhangs and sloped roofline, Morphoz will adopt a personalized approach to serve the desire of each person. Based on Renault’s EV platform, the uniqueness of which it allows for several configurations of power, capacity, range and truck volume.

The standard setting of Morphoz is the city mode, which means the SUV measures 4.4 meters and riding on a 2730 mm wheelbase. When extended to travel mode. The SUV can extend to 2930 mm with overall length measuring to 4800 mm.

Morphoz carries a 40 kWh battery pack that capacitates 400 km driving range. With most of the outgoing Renault models, this one is going to offer a more pleasurable ride. When the car is standing and isn't being driven, its batteries could be used to power appliances in the owner's house or even their local area via smart charging devices and Vehicle to Grid bi-directional technology. The batteries are fitted into the floor, allowing the vehicle to be designed closer to the ground with a lower roof which also enhances its aerodynamic performance.

In its most stylish sense, you just need to wave at the car, to get it unlocked. It is more like greeting your car with a hello and it opens doors for your welcome. The doors are faced opposite to each other with no B-pillars. Once you enter the car, a modernized cabin will greet you. You can also configure the car's seat layout to better adapt to the needs of your next journey. The interior also uses sustainable and ethnic materials for an unusual experience.
Overall, the design and idea are very edgy and futuristic and foretells the brands future with electrics cars. There are no confirmed plans for production, but it seems that the company is exploring new avenues and taking inspiration for innovative designs potential.
