Skoda introduces Vision 7S concept EV, new design direction, and new logo

After a short teaser campaign, Skoda has introduced the new Vision 7S concept SUV globally. It is a three-row electric SUV concept that previews the Czech brand’s novel design language named Modern Solid. Not only that, but it also unveiled an all-new Skoda logo that will be used in its future models. Let’s get into the details.

    The new design philosophy that debuts with the concept car features strong vertical elements, minimal cuts and creases, and curved surfaces. The front end of the vehicle is termed as the Tech Deck face outfitted with a flat grille design, T-shaped headlamps, and a rugged bumper with seven vertical bars.

    Other design highlights include a sloping roofline, T-shaped tail lights, wing mirrors, and flush door handles. The SUV also boasts a new Explorer Green livery.

    The interior of the Skoda 7S stands out with an innovative design. It carries a unique 7-seat configuration, including one baby seat positioned on the centre console and another in front of the middle row. According to the automaker, this unique child seat position is the safest point in a vehicle in the event of a crash.

    Two seating modes - Driving and Relaxing are also introduced. The latter is a normal configuration while the latter adjusts the seats into a more lounge-like position with the driving pedals sliding into a recess to match the flat floor.

    The concept model underpins the VW Group’s MEB architecture and packs an 89-kWh battery pack that supports up to 200-kW fast charging. The automaker claims over 600 km of drive on a single charge.

    The new logo is a wordmark ‘Skoda’ in a bespoke font. The brand’s designers also incorporated a caron in the logo to signify that the alphabet S is pronounced differently.

    The car brand name is pronounced as ‘Shkoda’ in Czech. In place of the existing winged arrow logo, we will find the new one on Skoda’s upcoming models. 

    With that said, the automaker plans to unveil three new electric cars by 2026 - a 7-seater SUV (most probably based on the Vision 7S), a compact SUV, and a small car.
