Sony Honda Mobility unveils AFEELA EV SUV prototype at CES 2026
KUALA LUMPUR: Back in 2022, the tech giant Sony joined hands with Honda to fulfil its dream of producing electric vehicles. After almost three years, Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) pulled the wraps off its first EV, the AFEELA 1, at the 2025 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) event. Well, now the company has unveiled its next electric vehicle, the AFEELA SUV, at CES 2026

The AFEELA SUV will utilise Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis and come equipped with several next-gen technologies like an interactive conversational AI and Intelligent Drive that will transform the in-vehicle space into a “drive-less” environment.The deliveries of the AFEELA 1 sedan are scheduled to begin in California in 2026 at prices ranging between USD 89,900 (RM 366k) to USD 102,900 (RM 419k). However, the AFEELA SUV is expected to hit the US roads by 2028.

- Based on the Vision-S 02 concept revealed three years ago, the Afeela EV SUV boasts a minimal look with a fastback roofline.
- It features smooth surfaces, sleek headlights connected by a light strip, and a media light bar that interacts with other cars and people. Other key exterior design highlights include aero-optimised alloy wheels and wraparound connected LED tail lights.

The cabin can be transformed into an immersive theatre with exceptional sound and visuals, or it can become a space that sparks creativity. AFEELA adapts to your needs, explains SHM.
- Based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis, the EV will come equipped with next-generation tech systems like AFEELA Intelligent Drive and AFEELA Personal Agent (an interactive conversational AI).
Photo from Sony Honda Mobility- While no powertrain details are yet available, the electric SUV may borrow the dual-motor AWD powertrain and a 91 kWh lithium-ion battery from the sedan counterpart, which delivers a combined output of 483 hp and a driving range of 483 km.
Afeela represents a relationship between people and mobility, “where people feel mobility as an intelligent entity, and mobility feels people and society using sensing and network IT technologies,” explains SHM.
