Toyota brings fifth-gen A90 GR Supra to Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR: The Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, Toyota Motor Corporation has launched the A90 GR Supra in Thailand. Earlier this year, in March, Toyota showcased the car at the 2019 Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS). The A90 GR Supra is in its fifth generation and is available in the RZ spec in Thailand, which is the flagship variant of the model. The production phase of the car is held in the Magna Steyr’s Graz plant.

The A90 Toyota GR Supra is equipped with a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six engine (similar to the Malaysian model), which is capable of churning out a maximum power of 340 PS, with the peak torque of 500 Nm. The later comes at a range of 1,600 to 4,500 rpm. It is claimed as the most powerful Supra in worldwide.

The engine is mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and the car is based on the rear-wheel drive. Starting from 0, the A90 Toyota GR Supra can break the 100 kmph barrier in just 4.3 seconds. The vehicle can achieve a top speed of 250 kmph.

Though the carmaker has not confirmed the RZ’s kit list for Thailand. It seems like the car manufacturer will use a similar kit, which UMW Toyota Motor provides in Malaysia. The vehicle is equipped with 19-inch wheels, while the wheels get Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres (255/35 front and 275/35 rear).

Inside the A90 Toyota GR Supra, there is a Toyota Supra Connect infotainment system, which includes an iDrive controller, an 8.8-inch touchscreen, and a 12-speaker JBL sound system. It is further paired with a head-up display. Other notable features include eight-way powered seats along with driver’s side memory, dual-zone climate control, etc.

Coming to the safety features, along with seven airbags, the A90 Toyota GR Supra is provided with a driver-assist pack too. The pack includes forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, rear-end collision warning, adaptive high beam system, speed limit info, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitor.

A90 Toyota GR Supra is priced at 4.999 million baht in Thailand that is equivalent to RM 690,773 in Malaysian currency. It comes with the GR Service Package along with free service for 60,000 km or three years.
