VinFast plans to enter the US market with EVs

KUALA LUMPUR: For those of you who aren't aware, VinFast is a Vietnamese automaker that entered the arena two years ago. Back then, it left a mark on the auto industry and critics with two amazing creations - LUX A2.0 sedan and LUX SA2.0 SUV, both designed by Pininfarina.

As for the present scenario, VinFast once again proved its calibre with the introduction of the 500 unit limited President SUV. However, today we'll be discussing VinFast expansion plans. In a recent press release, the Vietnamese automaker said that by 2021 it aims to enter the US market. It will export electric vehicles to the western country that are currently under the development phase.

Vingroup owner Pham Nath Vuong expressed his desire to see VinFast built a world-class reputation in the automotive industry. In the press release, he said, "Our biggest challenge is that Vietnamese products do not have an international brand. To many international friends, Vietnam is still a poor, backward country. We will have to find a way to market and prove our products represent a dynamic and developing Vietnam that has reached the highest standards of the world."

In order to meet the company's goal, Vuong invested $2 billion from his personal fortune. The brand's desire to enter the US market is further fueled by the fact that its home market is too small for profitability, and the former seems like a much more lucrative option.

Seeing the recently-revealed VinFast President SUV, we expect the company's upcoming EVs to be impressive, both in function and form.
