VW Golf R400 Concept Soon to be a Limited Production Version

KUALA LUMPUR : First seen in 2014 at the Auto China show, the Golf R400 concept has kept people craving to see more to it, and now it seems that their wishes are being heard. As Volkswagen is rumored to be under full preparation to reveal its new hatchback at 2017, L’ Automobile Sportive. This good news is accompanied by the bit of a disappointment for some, as VW is planning to keep its new-found hatchback a limited edition, with a price tag that is expected to be rocket high.

This new hatchback which will compete with the likes of Audi RS3 and Mercedes-Benz AMG A45, is expected to generate a power of 420 PS and, therefore, will be introduced with the name R420 in the market. As for the engine spec, it is expected to feature an enhanced four-cylinder 2.0L TFSI engine that is said to pull out 450 Nm of maximum torque and 420 PS of power as mentioned above. The gear-box that will form the part of this new package is still under the shadow, but it is speculated to feature either a manual box or the high performance seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

This new hatchback will move on a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system, that comes standard with Golf R. In terms of performance, VW has fully prepared its car to blow your minds away. As we are already aware of the great performance that Golf400 concept showcased, reaching 100 km from a standstill in 3.9 seconds with an electronically controlled top speed of 280 km/h. With such performance displayed by a concept vehicle, we can surely expect the production version to increase these figures manifolds.

As for the looks, we can expect to see wider wheel arch that will give room to Lamborghini Gallardo like tyres, a front splitter and a rear wing that were seen on its concept version.
This much awaited limited edition car from VW will surely take over the market from the day of its launch.
