It is quite delightful to see how radical the Honda HR-V looks. The exterior styling inspired from that of the very radical Honda Civic is itself is a big boost to its visual appeal. The HR-V looks striking from whichever angle you look at it, especially the front end which makes it look very sporty. The two-door look of the side profile of the Honda HR-V looks very unique in its segment, thanks to the recessed door handle in the C-pillar.
For a premium compact SUV, the Honda HR-V has been packed with contemporary features which are best in its segment. The HR-V comes with some really premium and feel-good comfort and convenience features which were usually seen and present in only premium and full-sized SUVs.
Going by the recent trends of modern designing, the Mazda CX-3 looks quite attractive by the way it looks. The sleek front end styling with full LED headlamps and wide front grille as well as the aerodynamic side profile with smooth grooves give it an eye-catching stance.
The Mazda CX-3 exhibits brilliant levels of fit and finish and strong build quality, which gives it an edge over other cars in a similar price range. The strong thud from the doors as well as soft-touch plastics do give the Mazda CX-3 a premium feel of vehicles from one or two segments above.
The Mazda CX-3 is right now the safest SUV in its category, with its list of safety features being the longest of them all. The Mazda CX-3 is impressive with the presence of features like six airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control, Emergency Brake Assist, Traction Control, Hill Launch Assist, front and rear parking sensors, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Monitoring System.
While it is not of much big concern, but the Honda HR-V looks more like a raised and rugged hatchback rather than an SUV, which makes its stance not so authoritative. The coupe-ish styling and raised stance do give a rugged effect to the Honda HR-V, however, it does not look as big as a vehicle of this price should be.
The coupe-like profile of the Honda HR-V gives it a very sporty stance at the rear and side, however, this very styling theme eats up a bit of room in the cabin at the rear. The sloping and curvy roofline reduces rear headroom by a small margin, making tall passengers quite uncomfortable.
For a premium midsize SUV, the Mazda CX-3, despite having a striking road presence from the outside, doesn’t have an eye-catching interior design. The dashboard looks way too simple with minimalist center console and not so attractive instrument console makes it look a bit drab.
Since the Mazda CX-3 has a curvy design, it results in a lesser practical cabin. Due to the sloping roofline, the headroom is at a premium, while the shoulder room too isn’t that great.
For an SUV, the Mazda CX-3 sits a bit low, which doesn’t give it a road presence of a traditional SUV. The ground clearance of the Mazda CX-3 too is lesser as compared to other SUVs.
