KUALA LUMPUR: Kawasaki has introduced the industry standard traction control system on two of its latest motorcycles, the 2023 Ninja 650 and Z650.

    Though it is an industry-standard feature, it is for the first time a Ninja and Z650 are getting a traction control system with ‘off’ mode. Not to forget, the two motorcycles now come with LED lighting all around.

    • The Ninja 650 and Z650 will feature Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) in three different settings, thus meeting all the rider’s need
    • In Mode 1, the KTRC system is more preserve
    • In Mode 2, the intervention sets in a bit earlier making it apt to deal with lower-traction scenarios, like while riding on wet roads

    • The rider even has the option to switch off the traction control entirely, allowing for more fun on the track
    • The preferred KTRC setting can also be accessed by the rider via the standard Bluetooth-enabled, full-colour TFT LCD instrument panel. Apart from showing various functions onscreen including turn-by-turn navigation

    On the mechanical front, both Kawasaki’s continue to source power from a 649 cc parallel-twin mill generating a maximum power output of 67 hp along with a peak torque of 65 Nm. The drive is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed gearbox and chain final drive to the rear wheels.

    Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC)  details

    Assuring a smooth ride all along is the two motorcycles' suspension setup that includes a non-adjustable 41 mm telescopic front fork and a horizontal back-link shock at the rear. Braking is taken care of by a twin 330 mm diameter front disc clamped by two-piston callipers and a 220 mm rear disc with a single-piston calliper at the rear. As the standard fit is available two-channel ABS.
