Transformers: Autobots and their Transformed Cars

Transformers: Autobots and their Transformed Cars

If you’re one of the millions of people who have seen one of the Transformers movies, you know what is about watching robot-battle carnage and a full lineup of super cars on one screen. The movie series, Transformers wastes no time getting right to the incredible robot action we all hunger for, and rushes directly from the credits to eye-popping, rampant robot destruction. What really holds the film together though is that even when it’s knee deep in save the world, all out brawling in the streets, giant freaking robot war, at the core of everything is the simple story of a boy and his first car. For a man, there are few things more powerful than the relationship he has with his first automobile, and it’s no different for Sam Witwicky.

Sam, for all intents and purposes is just like the humans in the cartoon, a guy who befriends a group of alien beings known as Autobots and helps them fight the good fight against their enemies the Decepticons.

From American muscle to European supercars, director Michael Bay has gathered up every vehicle just to make the movie right! Read on for our Transformer Car Guide and their respective Autobot Transformer identities.

Optimus Prime – Marmon Cabover & Western Star 4900 Phantom

Optimus Prime is the first Transformer introduced in TF4. Cade Yeager, played by Mark Wahlberg and his friend Lucas acquire an old truck in hope of parting it out to make some money. Cade soon learns that the truck is actually Optimus Prime in hiding and begins to repair the dilapidated robot. The Marmon cabover is an ode to the original transformers series and is a four-time saviour of the world and leader of the Autobots. Later in the movie, Marmon Cabover gets replaced with Western Star 4900 Phantom which is a big truck with red flames and chrome accents. Nonetheless, the truck is badass and suits Optimus perfectly.

Bumblebee – 1967 Camaro & 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Concept

In the beginning of the movie while the Autobots are in hiding, Bumblee sheds his 1967 Chevrolet Camaro. The fleshy yellow car with rounded fender flares and staggered wheel setup captures instant attention of viewers over the screen. 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Concept makes a later appearance in the movie. This hot-headed vehicle is a persona paired up with back and yellow hot rod exteriors.

Jazz - Pontiac Solstice GXP

Jazz followed Optimus Prime on his misson aboard the Ark. Jazz's alternate mode in the film is a silver/gray customized hardtop Pontiac Solstice GXP similar to the weekend racer concept car. Another cool car used in the 2007 Transformer movie was the ‘Hardtop Pontiac Solstice GXP’. It is a Roadster Coupe from General Motors originating from its Pontiac Division.

Ratchet – Hummer H2

Returning once again as the Autobot field medic, as well as a science officer, Ratchet remains one of Optimus Prime’s most trusted teammates. While Ratchet still transforms into a Hummer H2 Search and Rescue Sport Utility Truck, in Dark of the Moon the character receives a minor color palette tweak.

Ironhide – GMC Topkick

Ironhide serves as the Autobot weapons specialist. He is one of Optimus Prime’s oldest friends though they don’t always see eye to eye. Ironhide’s vehicle mode is a GMC Topkick and his weapons arsenal consists of machine guns, plasma cannons and a devastating Gatling missile launcher, ensuring he is always the first into battle with the Decepticons.
