2018 Fiat Cronos revealed

2018 Fiat Cronos revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: After revealing the replacement of Punto, the Argo, Fiat has come up with its sedan counterpart, the 2018 Cronos. Yes, the 2018 Fiat Cronos, which will be replacing the Fiat Linea in the global market has been finally revealed. The sub-compact sedan will first make its official debut in the Brazilian market where it will directly take on the recently revealed Volkswagen Virtus. Expected to launch by the end of this year, the Cronos is based on the same platform as Argo with a range of styling differences.

Apart from the headlamps and hood, the front of Cronos has differentiating smaller mesh grille with thick surround, bold bumper with larger air intake and high-set fog lamp housings. The rear of the sedan gets wraparound LED taillights, stylish trunk with integrated spoiler and large bumper with black plastic insert. According to Fiat, the 2018 Cronos will offer more boot volume over its key competitor, VW Virtus.

Considering the power unit of the upcoming sedan, it will be a 1.3-litre petrol engine with a maximum power output of 139 hp coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. There will be also a 1.8-litre flex-fuel engine that will pump out a maximum power output of 139 hp and will come with an additional option of 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The cabin configuration and layout are still not revealed by the manufacturer and we expect some light on these parameters on the launch. Let’s see how the new player of Fiat performs in a highly competitive segment dominated by sedans like Honda City, Suzuki Ciaz, and Hyundai Accent.
