2021 Toyota Sequoia gets Nightshade Edition & a new paint finish

KUALA LUMPUR: Several models in the Toyota lineup are offered in a Nightshade Edition, and now we have another one joining the list - the Sequoia SUV. For those of you who aren't aware, it is one of the oldest SUVs serving the North American market with its 2nd-gen model on sale for almost 13 years. And to give it a fresh look and feel, Toyota has introduced a new edition and paint finish.

For its biggest SUV, Toyota has taken a slightly different route. How? Well, for Sequoia, the Nightshade treatment will be applied only to the feature-rich Limited Edition model, leaving the more mundane SE trim that usually is the beneficiary of the treatment.

Don't confuse the Sequoia Nightshade Edition for a full blackout package, as the company is offering several exterior finish options other than black. For example, apart from the Midnight Black tone, the customers can opt for shades like Blizzard Pearl and Magnetic Grey. However, what's common is darkened lower grille, chrome badging, body mouldings, and fog light surrounds. On the inside, it gets black upholstery complementing the dark exterior look.

In its official statement, Toyota said, "With the close of summer comes shorter days and earlier sunsets – the perfect time for the Sequoia Nightshade Edition to make its arrival."

As for the new paint finish offering, Toyota will be offering the Sequoia TDR Pro variant in a new exterior tone, called Lunar Rock. This colour tone has become Toyota's signature paint that can be seen on many of its SUVs and off-road trucks. Like other models, the Lunar Rock tone will come as a replacement to the Army Green tone.

In other news, Toyota has confirmed the arrival of all-new Sequoia; however, it might now happen until 2022.
