All-new 2022 Kia Grand Carnival to arrive soon

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kia Sedona moniker was introduced in the US back in 1998 and now very soon it will be replaced by the Grand Carnival nameplate. The said move is part of Kia’s strategy to promote its new global identity, therefore the new model will wear the brand’s new logo.

Besides, the difference in the name, the Sedona and Carnival are essentially the same. Kia introduced the fourth-gen model in June 2020 and it packs better styling and feature list.

2022 Kia Grand Carnival engine 

Powering the all-new Kia Carnival are two units - a 3.5-litre direct- and port-injected V6 mill and a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel mill. The former churns out a maximum power of 294 PS and a peak torque of 355 Nm. In order to achieve maximum efficiency, the mill comes with an integrated thermal management system, a cooled exhaust gas recirculation, and cross-flow system. As for the latter Smartstream mill makes 202 PS of power and 440 Nm of torque. This mill saves at least 20 kg thanks to the use of aluminium.

Both the petrol and diesel units are coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Kia has fitted its Grand Utility Vehicle with advanced suite of driver assist systems that include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, segment-exclusive blind-spot view monitor, adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, rear cross traffic alert, and driver attention warning.
