Audi A6 Facelift – launched in Malaysia, starting from RM325K

Kuala Lumpur: Brace yourself, as another German installment from the house of Audi, is set out for sale in Malaysia - Audi A6 Facelift. The car was unveiled to the world almost a year ago, but it has landed on the Malaysian shores a bit late in two variants of a turbocharged 1.8 TFSI variant and a 3.0 TFSI. This all new rejuvenated C7-generation is a tough rival to the existence of Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series in Malaysian auto market.

The exterior of the all-new Audi A6 facelift is mildly updated with splashes of a redesigned single-frame front grille added with redesigned front air inlets. The rear bumper is loaded with a diffuser-like element and more pronounced side sills. The all new Audi A6 also feature LED rear lights with bolder graphics and restyled xenon headlights. A6's 1.8 TFSI variant comes with the standard xenon plus headlights with high-beam assistant.

The 3.0 TFSI variant also gets LED headlights and LED rear lights with dynamic indicators as standard. Both the variants of Audi A6 features electrically-folding side mirrors for more convenience. The latest addition to the A6 is the Audi’s Matrix LED headlight technology which is being offered in varied pricing options in both variants.

Audi A6 facelift is available in two petrol engines moniker as 1.8 TFSI and a 3.0 TFSI option. The 1.8-litre power mill delivers a total 190 hp and 320 Nm of torque from 1,400 to 4,100 rpm while the 3.0 TFSI churns out swiftly 333 hp and 440 Nm from 2,900 to 5,300 rpm. Both the Audi variants are coupled with seven-speed S Tronic double-clutch transmission, however, the 3.0 TFSI is also blessed with the Audi Quattro technology, sending its power to all four corners making it an all wheel drive.

Owing to this huge chunk of power the car easily performs a century sprint in a meagre time span of 7.9 seconds for the front-wheel drive 1.8 TFSI model, while the more concentrated power dose generated from the 3.0 TFSI unit catapults it to 100 Km/h in just 5.1 seconds. The 1.8 continues to sprint until it hits a top speed mark of 233 km/h while the 3.0 accents to an electronically calculated 250 Km/h. Audi's fuel efficient technology is evident in these two engines, performing on a frugal fuel consumption of 5.7 l/100 km and 7.4 l/100 km for the 1.8 and 3.0 TFSI variants, respectively.

Sliding inside the cabin of these German finesse revives the luxurious spirit as the car is blessed with highest quality material and high-end features. The 1.8 TFSI variant is loaded with Milano leather seats coupled with electrically-adjustable including memory function for the driver’s seat. The car features a redesigned gear selector with four-zone automatic air conditioning system and a four-spoke leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel. Also, the reclining rear seat backrests and a smattering of aluminium accents adds more comfort and ambiance to this aristocracy.

Coming towards the infotainment features, Audi drive select is found as standard on both variants, involving the driving styles with modes like Auto, Comfort, Dynamic, Individual and Efficiency. A standard entertainment system comes in the form of Audi’s MMI radio plus system with a 6.5-inch electrically-operated colour screen and a sound system with 10 speakers.

Moving towards the 3.0 TFSI version, one gets the latest electronic adjustment for the three-spoke leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel coupled with paddle shifters adding more ergonomics to the design. Although here, the Audi MMI navigation can be enjoyed on a unique 8.0-inch colour display along with a high-end Bose surround sound system with 14 speakers.

Audi has been widely acclaimed for its safety technology, A6 is nowhere lacks on that platform, as the 1.8 TFSI variant arrives with a total of six airbags, ESC, traction control, EDL, ABS with EBD and brake assist along with a puncture indicator and parking aid plus with selective display. Besides that, the car is also loaded with hold assist, electronic child-proof locks and Isofix. The 3.0 TFSI as a flagship variant boasts the safety levels by arriving on the scene equipped with eight airbags, and all the rest coincides with it lesser sibling 1.8 TFSI.

The exterior canvas of the all-new A6 can be painted in 13 colours, named as Ibis White, Brilliant Black, Glacier White, Oolong Grey, Mythos Black, Dakota Grey, Floret Silver, Diamond Beige, Aviator Blue, Tornado Grey, Havana Black, Moonlight Blue and Garnet Red. Pricing of the all-new Audi A6 goes by its celebrity which begins at a hefty tag of RM324,900 for the 1.8 TFSI variant, inclusive of on-the-road (OTR) costs sans insurance and RM500,000 for the 3.0 TFSI version. Audi Malaysia will be covering a warranty of four-year/120,000 km (whichever comes first).
