BMW iX2 EV on its way to Malaysia; ROI open

KUALA LUMPUR: Get ready to welcome an all-new BMW EV in Malaysia! We are talking about the iX2 or the electric counterpart of the second-gen BMW X2 that made its global debut last October. BMW Malaysia has released a teaser of the upcoming electric vehicle on its official website and has started accepting its registrations.

    While the details of the Malaysia-spec BMW iX2 are yet to be revealed, we can look at the global model for a reference. It is positioned above the iX1 in the lineup and has a single xDrive30 variant, powered by a dual motor setup. The motors kick out a maximum power of 313 hp and a peak torque of 494 Nm, allowing EV to complete the century sprint in 5.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 180 kmph.

    The setup is hooked to a 64.8-kWh battery pack, which offers a driving range of 417 to 449 km (on the WLTP cycle). As far as the charging is concerned, BMW claims that the EV can charge from 10 to 80% in less than 30 minutes when using up to 130 kW DC fast charger.

    In terms of design, the EV looks a bit different from its ICE model with a closed-off panel on the front, a slightly different rear bumper, and a rear diffuser. The iX2 also boasts a fully sealed underbody with a battery package located beneath the floor, adding to its aerodynamic efficiency.

    Equipment-wise, the BMW iX2 features a 10.7-inch infotainment unit powered by BMW Operating System 9, a 10.25-inch instrument panel, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, BMW Maps Navigation, dual-zone climate control, and advanced driver assistance systems.
