BYD e2 Honor Edition up for grabs in China, starts at just RM 58686

KUALA LUMPUR: Back in 2019, BYD introduced the e2 compact hatchback with an all-electric range of up to 405 km in China. The EV has now received a new e2 Honor Edition, positioned as an affordable yet feature-rich option for environmentally conscious consumers.

The BYD e2 Honor Edition is offered in two variants - Comfort and Luxury, with a starting price of CNY 89,800 (approximately equal to RM 58686), which is 12% cheaper than the standard model.

The key highlights of the 2024 BYD e2 Honor Edition are as follows - 

• The EV measures 4260 mm in length, 1760 mm in width, and 1530 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2610 mm, which makes it slightly longer than its predecessor
• The EV follows the design cues of the Ocean series, showcasing a newly styled closed front grille, a three-section lower intake grille, and slim headlights

• The side profile exhibits a sleek body shape with side skirts extending from the front to the rear
• Inside, the e2 Honor Edition features a minimalist design, including an upgraded intelligent rotating pad available in either a 10.1-inch screen (Comfort trim) or a 12.8-inch screen (Luxury trim), equipped with DiLink smart connectivity and intelligent voice interaction systems

• Both models come with an 8.8-inch full LCD instrument cluster
• Based on the 3.0 e-platform, the EV comes equipped with the standard high-safety LFP blade battery and a structure designed according to 3H high-strength principles, with over 50% of the structure composed of high-strength steel
• Powering the BYD e2 is a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which kicks out a maximum power of 95 PS

• The motor is paired with either a 48 kWh or 57.6 kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC range of 420 km or 510 km, respectively
• Also, included in the package is VTOL discharge technology, allowing for external discharge of up to 3.3 kW, and NFC car key functionality on smartphones for managing vehicle security

With such low-priced and feature-rich EVs, BYD aims to capture market share from gas-powered cars.
