BYD Seal 08 sedan, Sealion 08 SUV teased, debut set for Q1 2026

KUALA LUMPUR:  BYD has become the No.1 EV seller globally with the total sales of 2,254,714 EVs in 2025. To keep up this momentum, the Chinese EV giant is preparing to introduce two new flagship EVs - the Seal 08 sedan and the Sealion 08 SUV soon. 

BYD has released the official teaser shots of these EVs with an official debut set for Q1 2026. While no official specs are yet revealed, the automaker confirmed that models belong to the newly introduced "Ocean 8" series and are positioned as large, premium flagships. It will operate separately from BYD’s Dynasty series.

BYD Seal 08

The BYD Seal 08 is a mid-to-large sedan with a coupe-like roofline, sleek aerodynamics, and premium proportions. Based on the Ocean S concept car, the EV will adopt the brand’s latest Ocean Aesthetics design and is expected to be larger and more feature-rich than the existing Seal EVs. 

BYD Sealion 08 SUV

The BYD Sealion 08 is a mid-to-large SUV, featuring an upright stance and commanding road presence. Based on the Ocean S concept car, the SUV may come with a 2-2-3 seating layout, updated EV technology and enhanced intelligent cockpit features.

As per the reports, the BYD Seal 09 and Sealion 09 EVs are also in the pipeline, highlighting the brand’s efforts to strengthen its position against luxury EV rivals in developed markets.
