Dodge upcoming eMuscle car is likely to go from 0-100 kmph in 2 seconds

KUALA LUMPUR: In the muscle car world, Dodge is known for its legendary V8 engines and the Challenger SRT Demon, which is one of the world’s fastest accelerating cars. Recently, the American automaker’s parent company Stellantis revealed its electrification strategy for the next decade, and as per that Dodge will roll out an electric muscle car by 2024. This means it will be the world's first carmaker to have an electric muscle car in the lineup if no other automaker beats the given timeline.

While Dodge did not announce the car’s name yet, it does reveal that instead of EV, it will call the upcoming model “eMuscle.” Regarding the car’s design, we have a small clip in hand to analyze.

Although the teaser does not provide us a clear look at the upcoming Dodge muscle EV, it showcases the vehicle’s rounded corners on the front end, just like the 1970 Dodge Challenger.

We can also spot an LED strip on the front as well as on the sides which also reminds us of the Challenger. A Fratzog logo can also be seen on the car, which was used by the brand between 1962 and 1976. According to Dodge, the logo gives a nod to the future that opens up another chapter of its automotive journey. On the rear, we can see yet another Challenger design feature i.e. recessed tail lamps.

Further, the automaker confirmed that the upcoming muscle car will underpin the Stellantis’s new STLA Large platform, which is capable of providing a total cruising range of around 800 kms with a 118-kWh battery pack. The car is expected to hit the 0-100 kmph mark in just 2.0 seconds.

Regarding the performance, Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis stated, “Our engineers are reaching a practical limit of what we can squeeze from internal combustion innovation. They know we know that electric motors can give us more. And if we know of a technology that can give our customers an advantage, we have an obligation to embrace it.”

Closer to home, Dodge has never sold its cars officially in Malaysia, and if we see the available muscle cars in the country, the Ford Mustang is one prominent name.
