Driving Skills for Life Programme organised in Malaysia by Ford

KUALA LUMPUR: Ford in conjunction with Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC), the manufacturer’s official distributor in Malaysia successfully organised the safe driver training under Ford’s global Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) programme for the third time this year.

Funded by the philanthropic arm of the Ford Motor Company, the Ford Motor Company Fund, Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) is a flagship global corporate social responsibility (CSR) by Ford. More than 60 licensed drivers which included both corporate partners and Ford customers were trained during the two half-day workshops at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS).

In order to make the drivers safer and more aware, the Ford Driving Skills for Life programme trains the drivers by providing them with free practical, hands-on experiences. Various driver risks such as dealing with unexpected scenarios, speed and space management along with restrictions caused due to mobile phone use or drowsiness are also addressed in the DSFL workshop.

Syed Ahmad Muzri Syed Faiz, Managing Director, Sime Darby Auto Connexion, during the event said, “Ford is committed to helping raise awareness of road safety and educating drivers on safe driving practices and techniques. We are proud to continue this very practical programme in Malaysia to help raise public awareness on safe driving and driver safety”.

The situation of driving under the influence of alcohol or medication was also addressed during the event. The drivers also experienced driving while coordination, alertness, and movement are impaired using simulator which had a special pair of goggles.

Myanmar, Taiwan, Thailand, China, Cambodia, India, Vietnam and the Philippines are the other Asian countries where Ford’s DSFL has been a successful event for the last 11 years.
