Kia Cerato Sedan Facelift Arrives in South Korea: Price Starts from RM56,100

Kuala Lumpur: After having been spotted undisguised, the Kia Cerato sedan facelift has finally arrived in South Korea. The revised C-Segment sedan now features a new look, a more economical 1.6-liter engine, and a few modifications to improve the driving experience. While we have already seen the exterior of this sedan in its spy shots,  let's have a closer look this time.

The facelifted Kia Cerato sedan flaunts a more angular front-end design with a broader and slimmer “tiger nose” grille placed a bit lower. The headlights now look wider and sleeker and the fog lights and air intakes are streamlined. The BMW-esque air curtain intakes seen on the new Optima are also here. The wheels now feature a new two-tone design which looks quite sleeker.

The rear side of the Kia Cerato sedan facelift features a new simpler black rear apron design with revised taillight graphics for both bulb and LED units. Also, the indicators and reverse lights have been placed on the edge rather than on top.

Inside, there are some minor changes including the redesigned instrument cluster graphics, revised switchgear, flat-bottomed steering wheel and a new faux carbon fiber pattern around the air vents with a smattering  of chrome and gloss black finish.

The powertrain of Kia Cerato sedan facelift features a 1.6-liter Gamma GDI four-cylinder engine that can produce 130hp of power and 161Nm of torque. The engine is less powerful than that on the pre-facelift model, (138hp of power and 167Nm of torque) but comes with a better fuel economy of 143. kilometer per liter, which is 0.3 kilometers more than before. The power transmission is managed by a six-speed automatic gearbox. The fuel economy figures of the 1.6-liter and 2.0 -liter Malaysian versions  are also expected to be the same.

There are three driver select modes: Normal, Sport, and Eco.

The Kia Cerato sedan facelift also comes with better steering responsiveness, thanks to the upgraded processing unit (32 bit compared to the previous 16 bit) of the speed-sensitive motor driven power steering (MDDS).   In South Korea, the price of the Kia Cerato sedan facelift ranges from the 15.21 million won (RM56,100) to 20.95 million won (RM77,200).
