Final Price of Peugeot 508 Facelift Ranges From RM174k-RM202k

KUALA LUMPUR: Last month in Malaysia, the facelifted Peugeot 508 was launched. However, only estimated prices were revealed at the ocassion. The car is priced meagrely as compared to the previous estimations across the board.

The refreshed range has knocked out the Turbo S variant with the base RM155,888 to make way for the premium model of the previous mid-spec machine, to brighten the lineup as the new 508 THP, with a starting range of RM173,888, with a premium of RM4,000 over the outgoing model. At last, the range-topping 508 GT diesel retails at RM201,888 with an increment of RM2,000. All prices, inclusive of insurance and GST on the road are between RM1,000-RM3,000 lower than the previous ones.

Last year, introduced to the world, the new 508 gets a sharper latest face having LED headlights, daytime running lights, indicators and fog lights. This revamped beast is equipped with sharp and impeccably upright bonnet, with a distingushing rear bumper and “three claw” tail lights, giving the machine a wild look.

Inside the car, changes are very small- a roll-top cubbyhole replaces the rotary controller for the central screen, which was adapted from the BMW iDrive. This caused the requirement of a switch for the touch screen in the seven-inch display.

The choice of engines remains same across the price-range. The ubiquitous engine 1.6 litre THP which spews 165 PS and 240 Nm of torque from 1,450 to 4,250 rpm. There is a 2.2 litre HDi turbodiesel on the side of diesel produces a strong 206 PS and 450 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 2,750 rpm. Both mills are coupled to an Aisin six-speed transmission.
