Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launches AMG GLC 43 Coupé Nightfall Edition with blacked-out styling and 421 hp

KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has added another chapter to its Nightfall Edition lineup, this time with the AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé. It's the second model to get the Nightfall treatment after the GLA, and like its predecessor, it's locally assembled.

The pitch here is straightforward: take an already aggressive-looking coupe-SUV, layer on a set of blacked-out exterior details, throw in some extra kit, and price it at RM 518,888 (on the road, without insurance, Peninsular Malaysia only).

What's actually different about the Nightfall Edition

The main visual addition is the AMG Night Package Exterior II, which builds on top of the standard AMG Exterior Night Package. Dark chrome detailing gets applied across the radiator trim slats, the fender and rear model badges, and the rear star emblem. There's also a silver chrome AMG fuel filler cap with black accents, which is a small detail but a recognisable one if you know what you're looking at.

The other notable inclusion is AMG Real Performance Sound, which pipes an artificially enhanced engine note into the cabin. There are two modes: BALANCED for something less intrusive, and POWERFUL if you want it louder. It's switchable via the touchscreen or a button, and it's tied to the 2.0-litre four-cylinder under the hood rather than any V8 fiction.

Under the bonnet

The GLC 43 runs on a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder producing 310 kW (421 hp) at 6,750 rpm and 500 Nm of torque from 5,000 rpm. It also has a belt-driven starter generator (RSG) that adds up to 10 kW (14 hp) on top of that when needed. This RSG doubles as a mild hybrid system, handling coasting, energy recuperation, and smoother start-stop transitions via 48-volt architecture.

The 0-100 km/h sprint is done in 4.5 seconds, and top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. Rear-axle steering of up to 2.5 degrees is also in the mix, which helps with both agility at lower speeds and stability when pushing it harder.

On the outside, the car rides on 21-inch AMG Y-spoke alloy wheels with silver-painted brake calipers. DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps come standard too.

Inside, it's the usual AMG setup: sport seats wrapped in ARTICO man-made leather, an AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather, carbon-fibre trim, and the MBUX infotainment system with AMG-specific displays. The Burmester 3D surround sound system is included as well.
