Geely China launches Xingyue L flagship SUV

KUALA LUMPUR: Geely has launched its new flagship SUV, the Xingyue L in China. It is regarded as the automaker's most advanced SUV to date. As for the launch event, it took place at the carmaker's home city, Hangzhou.

Geely showcased its flagship SUV for the first time in January, back then it was dubbed as the KX1. Followed by its debut in April at Auto Shanghai 2021. The car became popular even before its launch, as Geely collected close to 30,000 pre-orders.

The Xingyue L joins the automaker's flagship 'Star' series where it comes in third, after the Xingyue S SUV coupe and Xing Rui/Preface sedan.

Built on the Geely-Volvo collab platform, the Compact Modular Architecture, the big SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre direct-injection turbo mill, available in two tunes. First is the 238 PS/380 Nm version and the second is the 218 PS/325 Nm detuned version.

In the former tuning the engine is paired with an Aisin 8-speed automatic transmission and comes with five drive modes (Eco, Offroad, Normal, Snow, and Sport). As for the de-tuned offering, it comes coupled with an in-house 7-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox.

Like all the Geely Star series models, the Xingyue L too is part of the Blue Geely Initiative and so in the future, it will get the Geely Hybrid System, (GHS) 2.0 hybrid mill.

• Customisable 72 colour ‘atmospheric lighting scheme’
