Geely launches new Boyue variant in China, full detail revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: Wondering where you last heard about Geely Boyue? Well, it is the same car that has been rebadged as X70 in Malaysia. Now, coming back to the 'original', Geely has given the Boyue SUV an update, a new variant, called the Boyue X.

The Geely Boyue X is a range-topping trim in the model lineup and it features a distinguishing front fascia, taillights, and cabin compared to the X70 SUV (based on the 2018 model).

Geely Boyue X is the first model to feature the new design language. It gives up the 'Expanding Cosmos' grille that can be seen on the new Xingyue L (facelifted Binyue/X50). Instead, it comes with an aggressive array of pointed edges, done in gloss black and covering the car's entire front fascia height. The front bumper takes styling clues from the Geely Starburst concept.

Also, orange highlights can be seen on several exterior elements like the fog lamps, side moulding, and front & rear brake calipers. The car's overall look is completed by a gloss black uninspiring wheel design. The rear showcases a reprofiled bumper with a new reflector and silver diffuser. The trim between the tail lights is done in gloss black, similar to the one seen on the wheels and front bumper.

The interior looks way different from the exterior. Geely has used white upholstered seats with contrast dark blue trim running on the side. The orange and white double stitching on the door and seats further give the cabin a distinguishing look.

It also features - enhanced ambient lighting, premium dashboard layout, exclusive 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and massive infotainment system with Bose premium audio.

Under the hood, the Boyue X continues to be powered by a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder turbo mill that churns out a maximum power of 184 hp along with a peak torque of 300 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
