Honda Aircraft Company unveiled the new Jet Elite S
KUALA LUMPUR: Honda not only makes cars, motorcycles, trucks, motorized products, but also jet aircrafts. It rolled out its first-ever aircraft machine some two decades back and since then it has been working rigorously in the sector. In 2018, Honda Aircraft Company made its remarkable presence in the light aircraft segment with the introduction of the HondaJet Elite. And yesterday, it revealed a new upgraded aircraft, called “HondaJet Elite S,” at a virtual launch event themed “Innovation Continues: Elite S.”
The new model features a number of upgrades that expand its operational capability as well as improved flight operation. It covers improvements to the “pilot-machine interface” to reduce workload and enhance safety. One of the significant upgrades is the addition of FAA Data Comm capability, which replaces voice communications with text commands. For this, the system uses ACARS text-based messaging, through which pilots can access departure clearances and terminal weather information and can also communicate better with operation centres.
Another upgrade is the HondaJet Elite S’s better take-off weight. It has gone up by 90 kilograms. That can be used for an enhanced flying range of 225 km or for carrying additional passengers.
In terms of design, Honda tried to take things to the next level by introducing new styling with exclusive paint schemes, including Gunmetal, Luxe Gold, and Deep Sea Blue. The new colours are teamed up with a signature Elite S logo. Not only this, but the aircraft maker is also offering further customization options to the buyers that depend on exterior color selections.
During the event, the company showcased the new Elite S in a special paint scheme, representing the brand’s “continued commitment to research and development of leading-edge technology.”
Honda Aircraft Company's President and CEO Michimasa Fujino stated, “Since its introduction in 2018, the HondaJet Elite has achieved the best performance in its class while also being the most efficient, and with the new Elite S, we take another step forward in expanding the aircraft’s capability.”
“As a result of the innovation, design, and engineering on the new Elite S, we are once again setting a new standard in business aviation,” he further explained.
The new HondaJet Elite S will be available from next month at a base price of $5.4 million (approximately equal to RM 22,366,811), which is around 0.15 million (RM 621,300) higher than the earlier version.
