Karma Revero GTE set for debut in 2021

KUALA LUMPUR:  The South Californian automaker, Karma, has announced the expansion of its Revero series with the GTE all-electric model. It means the firm is finally ready to take the plunge. After producing the plug-in hybrid models for almost five years, the automaker is prepping for its first purely electric model, the Revero GTE.

Design-wise, the new Revero GTE is similar to the other Revero models - standard Revero, Revero GTS, and GT. As a fourth model in the series, it features the Karma’s new E-Flex platform and battery technology.

Carlos Gonzalez, vehicle platforms manager, Karma Automotive said, “Our Revero GTE is a reflection of Karma’s in-house engineering and technology capabilities. By creating GTE on a Karma E-Flex Platform, we can showcase another mobility option for customers who have shown interest in this sustainable solution, in addition to potential partner companies interested in the platform technology for their own use.”

Initially, the EV will be offered with 75 kWh and 100 kWh battery options having the target range of 322 km (200 miles) and 483 km (300 miles), respectively. The firm also aims to add one more option later on, viz. hyper-range battery pack with an intended range of 644 km (400 miles). By using DC 150 kW fast charging, the vehicle can be charged to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes. While with AC charging at 11 kW, it can get a full charge overnight. 

The Revero GTE will be one of the quickest BEVs available in the market, as it can achieve 0-100 kmph sprint in just 3.9 seconds.

The Revero EV is expected to arrive at the starting of the next year and will lock horns against the Tesla Model S.
