Kia Cerato Koup 1.6 T-GDI Launched in Malaysia with a Starting Price of RM135,888

Kuala Lumpur: The Kia Cerato Koup 1.6 T-GDI is finally launched in Malaysia with a starting price tag of RM135,888 on-the-road with insurance. This price is RM15k more than the range-topping Cerato 2.0 sedan. This price hike is more evident because it has ditched the older naturally-aspirated engine which delivered a maximum power of 161 PS along with a peak torque of 194 Nm. Instead, it is powered by a 1.6-litre Gamma T-GDI (Turbocharged Gasoline Direct Injection) four-cylinder engine which delivers a maximum power of 204 PS at 6000 rpm along with a commanding torque of 265 Nm at 1750-4000 rpm. It's the same unit which is used in Hyundai Veloster Turbo and Kia cee'd/pro_cee'd GT. Further, it is mated with a six-speed automatic transmission which helps it to complete a 0-100 kmph sprint in just 7.4 seconds along with a top speed of 222 kmph.

Its front fascia is dominated by a large lower grille along with a slimmer upper grille in faux carbon fibre trim. The illumination is provided by xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and big round fog lights below them. The side profile is further accentuated by gloss black wing mirrors and door handles while the rear end gets angular tail lights, diffuser-like rear bumper and twin tailpipes. Moreover, it is designed with longer doors to provide an easy entry and exit to its occupants. Further, this car rides on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

As soon as you glide into the car, you will notice its leather wrapped seats which come with heating option for the front ones while the driver seat also gets ventilation and electric lumbar adjustment. Further, it also gets a 4.2-inch LCD Supervision cluster, dual-zone auto climate control with cluster ioniser and a sunroof. Additional features include keyless entry, push-button start, a reverse camera and front and rear parking sensors. Its safety mechanism is further accentuated by six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, stability control, hill start assist and Isofix child seat anchors for the rear seats.

Her love for these mean machines is carried over from her childhood. For Charu, Barbies didn't make a place in the list of her favorite toys. Instead she would love to collect those toy cars and would go gaga over them. Dragged into the commerce background earlier, now she has finally found her long lost love with CarBay. With a dream to own an Aston Martin one day, she doesn't get tired researching about other automakers too.
