Kia confirms Picanto GT-Line for Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Just like with most of its popular offerings, Kia has officially announced a new top-spec GT Line variant of the smallest offering in its lineup, the Picanto. Naza Kia Malaysia, the authorised seller of Kia cars in Malaysia, has stated that the new Picanto GT Line is now out on sale with a basic price of RM 57,888.
To start with, the GT Line variant of Kia’s popular cars is nothing but a spruced-up version of the regular top-variant with cosmetic add-ons to make them appealing in a sportier way. So, is the Picanto GT Line with added styling elements and a couple of new comfort and convenience features.

The most welcoming addition of the Kia Picanto GT Line happens to be the sporty body kit in contrasting color schemes, with the inclusion of underbody skirts below front and rear bumpers, as well as sides. The wheels too are bigger now – they are 16-inch alloys in comparison to the 14-inch units on the KX and EX variants.

Picanto GT Line CABIN

The Kia Picanto has always been regarded as one of the most premium and feature-loaded hatchbacks in its segment, and the GT Line variant takes the benchmark even higher. The additional features in the Picanto GT Line include leather front seats, single-zone climate control, cruise control, supervision meter cluster, and a sunroof – a segment first. In terms of safety, the Picanto GT Line comes equipped Autonomous Emergency Braking and Tire Pressure Monitoring System in addition. Apart from all the color options available in the standard Picanto right now, the Picanto GT Line also comes with Aurora Black Pearl paint scheme.

Picanto GT Line STYLING

As expected, the changes and additions on the Picanto GT Line are purely limited to visual add-ons only, as the basic powertrain is retained completely. The Picanto GT Line sources its power from a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 84 PS of peak power and 122 Nm of maximum torque output. However, the Picanto GT Line will be offered only with a 4-speed automatic transmission, and not a manual gearbox.

With the Picanto GT Line, Kia aims at the younger set of buyers, who want more panache and attitude over the standard version of the hatchback.
