Kia XCeed crossover to debut on 26th June
KUALA LUMPUR: Only a few days back, Kia released an official image of its latest crossover, and then the car was spied while it was shooting a commercial in the US. And now, the brand has revealed its debut date, that is, 26th June 2019. It looks like the South Korean automaker is on roll these days, as the brand has been introducing car’s one after the another.
Concentrating on Kia’s new car, the XCeed which it calls Crossover Unity Vehicle (CUV), according to the company, it is a sportier alternative to the conventional SUV.
The car has been designed at the company’s Europen design centre based in Frankfurt, Germany. The design team was lead by Gregory Guillaume, Kia Motors Europe’s VP of Design. The XCeed showcases a swept-back, coupe-like profile, and also features a low hip point along with elevated ride height. Both the later elements give the car a sportier driving position. Besides, all this, the Kia crossover will also offer comparable levels of cabin and boot space to the best-selling SUVs in Europe.
Emilio Herrera, Kia Europe head said: “The sporty design and demeanor of the new Kia XCeed CUV makes it more innately desirable than many taller, larger SUVs. Yet it offers this without compromising on versatility, with its intelligent packaging achieving the cabin and storage space of an SUV in a sportier body and more compact footprint.”
We have no information about its under the hood configuration, and many are assuming that it will feature the same underpinning as the Ceed. So, we could expect it to be powered by brand's 1.0-litre 3-cylinder that pumps our 120 hp, the new 1.4 T-GDi turbo petrol unit with 140 hp, along with a 1.6-litre turbodiesel mill that develops 115 hp of power. There is also a chance of the range-topping trim of Xceed getting Ceed GT’s 1.6-litre T-GDi petrol unit making 201 hp and 265 Nm.
With all the information on-board, we can wait to see the final product on 26th June.
