KLIMS 2026: Jetour G700 takes centre stage, 904 PS PHEV off-road SUV heading to Malaysia?

KUALA LUMPUR: Jetour Malaysia has pulled the wraps off the G700 at KLIMS 2026, giving Malaysian buyers their first official look at what is set to be the brand's most ambitious and capable model yet. A full-size plug-in hybrid SUV built for both luxury and serious off-road use, the G700 signals a significant step up in Jetour's Malaysian ambitions.

What it is

The G700 is built on Jetour's GAIA off-road platform and sits firmly in the full-size luxury SUV segment, going up against the likes of the GWM Tank 500, which is priced at RM328,000 in Malaysia. It is a proper ladder-frame SUV measuring 5,198 mm long, 2,050 mm wide, and 1,956 mm tall, available in five and six-seat configurations.

The powertrain is where things get genuinely eye-catching. The G700 is powered by a plug-in hybrid system combining a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with dual electric motors, producing a combined system output of 904 PS and 1,135 Nm of torque. That is a substantial number for any segment, let alone a full-size SUV. The result is a claimed 0 to 100 km/h time of just 4.6 seconds.

Providing the electric side of the equation is a 34.13 kWh CATL battery, offering a claimed 150 km of pure electric range. Combined hybrid range is claimed at over 1,100 km, which makes the G700 genuinely practical for long-distance Malaysian driving without needing to stop frequently for fuel or charge.

Off-road credentials are equally serious. The G700 has a wading depth of up to 970 mm, approach and departure angles of 40 and 32 degrees respectively, a maximum ground clearance of 350 mm with adjustable suspension travel, and can climb gradients of up to 45 degrees. For context, that wading depth exceeds most dedicated off-road SUVs available in Malaysia today.

The interior is built around what Jetour calls a smart cockpit experience. A 35.4-inch widescreen panel spans the dashboard alongside a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, all powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8255 chip. Audio is handled by an 18-speaker Lexicon system, the same brand associated with Rolls-Royce. Other features include tri-zone climate control, ambient lighting, air purification, and powered side steps. Higher trims add a 17.3-inch rear entertainment screen and an in-vehicle refrigerator.

What it might cost

Malaysian pricing has not been announced, but there are useful reference points. In China, the G700 is priced from RMB329,900 to RMB384,900, which works out to approximately RM191,000 to RM223,000. Factoring in Malaysia's CBU import duties and taxes, a realistic estimate would place the G700 somewhere in the RM250,000 to RM300,000 range, which would put it squarely below the GWM Tank 500 while offering a more powerful and electrified powertrain.

The Jetour G700 is a bold statement from a brand that has grown remarkably quickly in Malaysia. On paper, a 904 PS plug-in hybrid SUV with 150 km of electric range, serious off-road hardware, and a Lexicon audio system at a potential price point under RM300,000 is a genuinely compelling proposition if look just at the specs itself. The GWM Tank 500 is its most obvious rival here, and if Jetour prices the G700 competitively, it will have a strong case to make at Malaysian showrooms.
