Lexus files Trademark in Europe, Israel, & Iceland
KUALA LUMPUR: Lexusenthusiast.com has reported that Toyota registered the LBX trademark in Europe on August 5th. On the same day, Lexus LBX and LBX trademarks were filed in Israel. And then two days later, i.e., on August 7th, the automaker requested for LBX trademark in Switzerland and Iceland.
Now, the big question is - what could LBX denote? Some suggest that this cloud hint towards a new infotainment system, perhaps an advanced version or successor of the ongoing Lexus Enform System. But, unlike the Lexus Enform detailed and verbose trademark filing, the LBX documents don't reveal much, except specifying its category as "automobiles and structural parts thereof".
Another and more apt possibility is a new concept vehicle that might go by the name Lexus Battery crossover or Lexus Battery eXperimental. Supporting this theory is a rumour that Lexus is working on a small crossover based on the Toyota Yaris Cross. Lexus plans to call it the BX, thus fitting all the parts of the puzzle. This small crossover would sit below the UX in the company's lineup.
Analyzing the location of the trademarks, it seems like the LBX would be a European-centric creation (tech or concept). Further, since the Toyota Yaris Cross is offered in Europe and Asian markets, the area where trademarks are filed, the second 'BX concept' theory seems more logical. However, only time will reveal what LBX stands for.
