This Is the future of Lexus luxury — and It’s not a sedan anymore
KUALA LUMPUR: At the Japan Mobility Show 2025, Lexus didn’t just show a new concept — it completely redefined what its flagship stands for. Meet the Lexus LS Concept, a car that technically isn’t just a car anymore. Lexus calls it a Luxury Space, and once you see it, you’ll understand why.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What is the Lexus LS Concept?
The Lexus LS Concept is the brand’s reimagined flagship revealed at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. It moves beyond the traditional sedan or SUV format into what Lexus calls a Luxury Space — a six-wheeled sanctuary emphasizing privacy, comfort, and individuality. Will the Lexus LS Concept go into production?
Lexus hasn’t confirmed production plans, but the LS Concept serves as a preview of the brand’s future design and technology direction — including new mobility formats that expand beyond roads to include air and sea travel. When Lexus introduced the original LS back in 1989, it was all about challenging the old guard of luxury sedans. But times have changed — and so have luxury buyers according to them. People no longer dream of chauffeur-driven saloons; they dream of freedom, time, and space as mentioned by Lexus.

And that’s exactly what this new LS Concept tries to capture. It’s not a “Luxury Sedan” anymore, nor an SUV. It’s a Luxury Space — a mobile sanctuary built around privacy, comfort, and individuality.
Here’s the twist: it has six wheels.
Yep, six.
Lexus says the extra wheels revolutionize packaging, allowing for more floor space and unhindered access. The cabin is described as a “home away from home,” where you can switch off from the chaos outside and just exist in your own little world. It’s equal parts lounge, workspace, and escape pod.

An Entire Flagship Family
Lexus isn’t stopping at just one version of the LS. Alongside the six-wheeler, two more concepts were introduced: the LS Sport Concept and the LS Coupe Concept.
The Sport Concept is all about connection — complete driving immersion, the emotional side of motoring that Lexus insists will always remain. The Coupe, on the other hand, represents what the brand calls “duality” — a car that’s as fun for the driver as it is calming for the passenger.
Together, they form what Lexus describes as the “flagship series,” leading the brand into a future where luxury is something you curate — not just buy off a showroom floor.

Lexus hinted at taking the LS Concept’s “private sanctuary” idea beyond roads altogether. The brand is exploring compact autonomous one-person mobility pods for crowded city centers, extending its idea of personal space into something even smaller and smarter.
Then it went one step further — to the sea and air.
Lexus has been collaborating with Joby Aviation on quiet, efficient personal air mobility — think flying taxis, but luxurious. The idea is to let owners “discover an independent and luxurious life off-grid.” And just in case that’s not enough, Lexus also teased an autonomous catamaran, blending privacy and adventure for life on the water.

All this paints a picture of Lexus as more than a carmaker. It’s building a 360-degree luxury ecosystem, where movement, space, and lifestyle are all connected — from the city to the sea to the sky.
The LS Concept, then, isn’t just the future of a model. It’s a glimpse of what Lexus luxury might mean in a world where cars, boats, and aircraft all speak the same design language.

“Luxury is leadership. And the leading edge of luxury is forever evolving.”
Under the lights of Tokyo Big Sight, it felt like Lexus wasn’t just showing a concept car — it was showing the next era of itself.
