New Lexus LS benefits from advanced tech for safer driving

KUALA LUMPUR: Lexus cars are becoming safer than ever, thanks to the drastic advancement in driver assistance technologies. The suite of features these techs offer not only enhances the driver’s awareness but also is capable of intervening when required. One such Lexus, to benefit from such enhancements is the all-new LS sedan that is turned with world-leading systems.

The Lexus LS is the living example of the company’s Chief Engineer, Toshio Asahi’s desire to make a car that provided individuals the ‘freedom to move around confidently’.

What safety features does the new LS have?

BladeScanTM Adaptive High-Beam System - improves driver night-time vision by increasing the distance of forward illumination. This helps the driver see potential hazards, pedestrians, and road signs earlier and easier. How does it work? Well, the system directs light from the LED headlights onto a fast rotating mirror, and then via a lens, it gives much finer illumination control

New digital rear-view mirror - it enhances the driver’s view and awareness of the surrounding by providing a clear view of the road and the car’s following via a rear-mounted camera
It is to be noted that there is no obstacle in the driver’s sight and at night-time or in poor weather the image is even optimised. The driver can adjust the brightness, do image scaling, and scale the view left/right or up/down through the touch-activated controls

360-degree Panoramic View Monitor - it is an excellent safeguard against, especially when driving at low speeds. It enables the driver to see the car’s position, other vehicle or obstacle

Parking Support Brake - it provides intelligent protection against obstacles around the LS, along with from vehicles and pedestrians approaching from the rear

New Advanced Park system - this one enables smooth and simple automated parking. The result is secure and prompt that can be achieved at a press of a button. The system controls the brakes, steering, transmission, throttle and is faster than rival systems
Also, the Advanced Park works with both marked and unmarked parking spots and can even store details of a regular parking space in its memory
