Malaysia-bound Lepas unveils two EVs in China - Lepas L4 and Lepas L6

KUALA LUMPUR: Chery introduced its new sub-brand, LEPAS, for global markets at the 2025 Auto Shanghai show. This brand has already entered the Indonesian market and is preparing to hit Malaysian roads very soon. Well, ahead of that, it unveiled two new electric cars - L4 and L6 at the ongoing Auto China show, shaping the roadmap of its global NEV strategy.

    Lepas L4: What we know so far

    • The Lepas L4 is a compact SUV that targets young urban buyers with its premium styling, decent range and advanced tech features.
    • It is a rebadged version of the Chery Tiggo 5 sold in China, and follows the brand’s “Leopard Aesthetics” philosophy. It features a sharp modern front fascia, sleek and muscular surfaces, and sporty proportions.
    • The EV measures 4,406 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, spanning a 2,700-mm wheelbase.

    • Powering the Lepas L4 is a single electric motor setup that generates a maximum power of 218 hp. The EV can travel up to 500 km on a single charge, according to the automaker. 
    • Equipped with a globally tuned chassis and a multi-link independent rear suspension, the new Lepas EV promises a composed and confident driving experience.
    • In terms of advanced features, it is packed with a full suite of ADAS systems and connected car technologies.

    Lepas L6: What we know so far

    • Positioned above the L4, the Lepas L6 is a mid-size SUV that focuses more on comfort, style, and technology, targeting urban professionals and families.
    • With a coupe-SUV-inspired profile, the EV has a low and wide stance along with sculpted body work, “Hunting Eye” headlights, and a full-width tail light unit.
    • The EV features VPD (valet parking driver) autonomous parking assistance system, H-NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) semi-autonomous driving system, Bosch IPB 2.0 braking system, and a Super AI Agent for intuitive in-car operations.
    • As per the reports, the all-electric Lepas L6 offers a maximum power of 242 PS and a peak torque of 275 Nm. Power comes from a 67.08 kWh LFP battery pack, which allows the EV to run for 510 km on a single charge. 

    Lepas also introduced the L6 PHEV at the 2026 Beijing motor show, which incorporates the new Lepas Super Hybrid system. 

    A brief look at Lepas’ global outlook

    Lepas is set to introduce its wide range of new energy products in the global markets, offering customers more diverse experiences of elegant mobility. Over the next three years, it will enter into core global markets including Europe, Southeast Asia, North America, and the Middle East.

    Lepas aims at establishing 1,200 global outlets and achieving annual sales of 500,000 units by 2030, bringing premium mobility experiences to consumers across the world.
