Malaysia gets the new Audi A7 Sportback

KUALA LUMPUR: It was in June when the Audi A7 Sportback made its first local appearance, and now this sleek and stylish five-door fastback is up for grabs. As previously claimed, the car is available in one trim option, i.e., 3.0 TFSI quattro that carries a price tag of RM 609,900 (on-the-road without insurance).

The Audi A7 Sportback is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged petrol unit that offers a maximum power of 340 hp at 6,400 rpm along with a peak torque of 500 Nm at 1,370 to 4,500 rpm. The powerplant is coupled to a 48V mild-hybrid system that enables the engine to shut when costing between 55 to 160 kmph of speed; also when coming to a stop, it helps the car to cruise under 22 kmph. With such a setup in place, Audi claims a reduction in fuel consumption by as much as 0.7 litre per kilometer.

The 3.0-litre turbo mill is paired to a 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch gearbox and quattro all-wheel drive. On the performance front, the fastback can touch the 100 kmph mark in 5.3 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. The combined mileage is rated at 13.7 kmpl.

The Audi A7 now sits on the evolved MLB platform, but it still displays almost identical dimension specs - 4,969 mm X 1,908 mm X 1,422 mm (L X W X H). Thus making the new A7 3mm narrower and 2 mm lower. The wheelbase is reduced by 12 mm, and it now rests at 2,969 mm.

On the design front, the new Audi A7 is in line with all the brand’s latest models, i.e., it also benefits from the Ingolstadt’s design language. At the front, is present trapezoidal HD Matrix LED headlights with slim DRLs and flatter single-frame grille. The front and rear highlight the car’s quattro system with haunches and like-always the low-slung roofline remains the model hallmark. The rear is decorated by a full-width taillight with DRLs segmented graphics. The active rear spoiler hides within the rear deck and extends only at speeds over 120 kmph.

The Audi A7, like its comfort and convenience feature list, has a fully-packed safety kit as well. It comes with pre safe front and rear along with a lane change assistant and lane departure warning. There’s also a 360-degree camera system.
