Mazda hits 500,000 plus sales of diesel-powered models in Japan

KUALA LUMPUR: The Japanese multinational automaker, Mazda has hit a fantastic 500,000 plus sales of diesel-powered models in Japan. This gives the carmaker a 52 per cent market share of the total diesel cars that are sold in Japan between 2012-2019.

In an automobile market which is gradually moving towards a more cleaner vehicle such as the ones with electric or hybrid mills, Mazda diesel cars with Skyactiv-D technology are still achieving approval and support from the buyers not only in Japan but also around the world.

In a country like Japan where emissions are very crucial, and the quality of vehicles is getting serious, Mazda has achieved the title of selling the top diesel-powered vehicle, which is a commendable feat.

The total number of diesel vehicles sold in Japan between 2012-2019 is nearly 960,000 units. The figure includes diesel vehicles from previous market leaders, Toyota and Nissan, who are currently shifting into alternative mills to satisfy the requirements of domestic and global consumers.

The technology that has allowed the carmaker to achieve these figures is the Skyactiv-D technology that makes its vehicles more fuel-efficient compared to any other diesel car. It features the world’s lowest diesel motor compression ratio of 14.0:1 that aids in enhancing the driving performance significantly by not only making it 20 per cent more fuel-efficient but also better for the environment.

Skyactiv-D flaunts an all-new two-stage turbocharger that delivers smooth and linear power delivery and also complies with the global emissions norms. This variable twin turbocharger increases the responsiveness and torque throughout the rev range.
