Meet the cooler sibling of Jazz, the Honda Jazz Crossstar
KUALA LUMPUR: The Honda Jazz is globally-renowned and admired by auto enthusiasts across the globe, while there is a lesser-known and probably cooler sibling of the hatch, the Jazz Crossstar. On offer in the UK, the Crossstar is a two-motor hybrid vehicle following a new ‘Yoo no bi’ design philosophy.
Talking about the design, the Crossstar looks quite proportional, however, it gains some exterior components on the C-pillars and rear combination lamps. The overall height of the car has been lowered but there is no change in the smooth contours, long-roofline, short nose and cabin-forward stance.
The Crossstar is rugged from outside, thanks to its black trims, aggressive-looking front grille, side sills, and roof rails. The alloys impart a stable and dynamic effect that possibly due to the widening effect of tyres with the rims.
Baek Jongkuk, the designer of all-new Jazz Crossstar, said that he wanted to develop a car of purpose and can be regarded as a “kind companion”. He dealt with the situation of manufacturing the all-new Honda vehicle with finesse, reducing the unnecessary features and simplifying exterior lines.
Since the Crossstar is a dual-motor hybrid drive, the Japanese automaker has used avant-garde structural technologies to maximise comfort and space inside the cabin. For achieving this, Honda has used ultra-thin A-pillars. If you observe closely you’d find that the nose is shorter than the regular Jazz.
