Meet the Q9 - Audi’s largest and most luxurious SUV ever

KUALA LUMPUR: Audi has finally revealed the highly anticipated Q9 SUV in the global market. Touted as the brand’s biggest and most luxurious SUV ever, the Audi Q9 is positioned above the Q8 and Q7, ready to take on full-size luxury SUVs such as the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.

The Audi Q9 will be available to order from the end of July 2026 in selected European markets, with prices starting at EUR 108,400 (approx. RM 505k).

Audi Q9: Key highlights

Dimensions 

The Audi Q9 measures 5,309 mm in length, 2,010 mm in width, and 1,794 mm in height, and spans a wheelbase of 3,138 mm, making it the largest Audi of all time. 

Exterior

In terms of design, it features an upright front fascia with a massive grille featuring illuminated vertical slats and an illuminated 2D Audi logo. These are paired with slim LED daytime running lights and Digital Matrix LED headlights that incorporate micro-LED modules to project warning symbols onto the road surface.

Another notable feature is world-first curved digital OLED rear lights that use ultra-thin glass, enabling the lights to seamlessly blend into the vehicle’s design. Adding to that, the advanced turn signals project a stylish turn signal onto the ground in sync with the front and rear indicators, ensuring high visibility for other road users.

Other key exterior highlights are large front air intakes, soft-closing automatic doors with collision-detection sensors, a centrally mounted radar sensor for ADAS and striking wheel sizes ranging from 20 to 23 inches, combined with grey or red callipers, depending on the trim.

Interior 

The cabin features premium materials and standout features, highlighting Audi’s commitment to quality. Two available seating configurations are - 7-seater for large families with three seats in the second row and a 6-seater that promises extra space and a business-class atmosphere. The latter gets two electrically adjustable individual seats in the second row with a heating function. The sports seat in the first row also adds ventilation and massage functions. 

Key feature highlights include - 

• Three-screen layout, comprising a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a 14.5-inch driver-oriented infotainment unit powered by Android Automotive OS, and a 12.3-inch passenger display with a dedicated privacy mode
• New four-spoke steering wheel with a 2D Audi logo 
• 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen 4D sound system with headrest speakers (front seats)
• Dual wireless phone chargers
• USB Type-C charging ports for all three rows
• Heated door and centre armrests
• 1.5 sq metres panoramic sunroof (largest-ever in an Audi)
• Level 2 advanced driver assistance system 

Engine choices 

As of now, Audi has announced two engine options for the Q9 for different markets: a diesel engine for Germany and a petrol engine for the US. The specs are as follows - 

• 3.0-litre V6 mild-hybrid diesel engine producing 299 hp and 630 Nm, paired with an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive system. 
• 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine producing 429 hp and 599 Nm, paired with an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission and all-wheel drive system

Will the Audi Q9 come to Malaysia?

As for the Audi Q9’s chances of a Malaysian debut, no official announcement has been made yet. However, if Audi expands into right-hand drive markets, Malaysia could be a potential future market.
