Meet Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia’s new managing director

KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia Sdn Bhd is the country’s oldest automobile manufacturer and Volvo’s first assembly plant outside Europe. Part of Volvo Car Corporation, it creates the safest and most exciting car experience for today’s driving enthusiasts. Operating from the Shah Alam assembly plant that manufactures passenger cars for domestic and export markets, the company now welcomes a new authoritative figure.

Gao Feng has now been appointed Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia’s new Managing Director. The position was previously held by Xiao Liming, who served the company for three years, from April 2018 to March 2022.

Gao Feng will oversee Volvo car manufacturing in the country in his new role. Before this, Mr. Feng served as the Deputy General Manager at the Volvo Car Taizhou plant. He held the previous position for six years and played a key role in launching several Volvo models in the country.

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Material Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, China
• Experience: 20 years of experience in the automotive industry
• Hobbies: Cycling & badminton with the family

Gao Feng, Managing Director of Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia, said: “I am excited to embark on this new chapter with Volvo Cars in Malaysia. With the recent introduction of the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, I look forward to working with our partners to manufacture more electric vehicles in the Malaysian market for export to the ASEAN region.”
