Mercedes-Benz M'sia Announces C-Class Price Cut With the Launch of New CKD C250 AMG Line

Kuala Lumpur: In an effort to surprise its customers and competitors, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has announced the price cut for all its existing W205 C-Class variants sold in Malaysia along with the official launch of two new variants of CKD C250 AMG Series. The price of the base variant of C-Class-CKD 200 Avantgarde has been reduced from RM269,888 to RM248,88. The automaker has also added a new variant in the local C-Class family – C200 Exclusive. Rated above the Avantgrade model, C200 Exclusive features 2.0-litres twin-scroll turbo engine, which delivers a maximum power of 184 hp and peak torque of 300 Nm. The price of this car starts from RM252,888 and it gets the same traditional Mercedes radiator grille feature in C250 Exclusive, contrary to the C 200 Avantgarde’s sports grille. Also, it features Active Shutter Grille and Wood Interior Trim. The Avantgarde features piano black trim.

As a top variant in its C-Class range, MBM has featured its new locally-assembled C250 AMG Line. The CKD variant gets a massive RM52,000 price-cut, now to be retailed at RM287,888.

The car features a powerful 2.0-litre twin-scroll turbo engine that produces 211 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The top AMG Line trim level has been also added to the full AMG Line exterior kit (including aggressive front and rear bumpers, 18-inch AMG five-spoke alloys etc.) In addition to AMG tuned sports suspension, flat-bottomed steering wheel, Burmester audio and many more.

In brief, the new W205 CKD Range in Malaysia now features:

  1. Mercedes-Benz C 200 Avantgarde – RM248,888
  2. Mercedes-Benz C 200 Exclusive – RM252,888
  3. Mercedes-Benz C 250 AMG Line – RM287,888

Notably, a previous top model of CKD range - C250 Exclusive (priced at RM299,888) has been discontinued. So, for the additional power, you have to choose C250 AMG Line. And for the exclusive look, there is now C200 Exclusive. In press release, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has explained that this price cut has been announced due to the qualification of its C-Class range for Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) duty incentives, as warranted by the prevailing National Automotive Policy (NAP 2014). Other cars that have been qualified for the Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) duty incentives include Honda City, Honda Jazz, Perodua Axia etc.
