MG Cyberster EV design and specs leaked

KUALA LUMPUR: MG unveiled its electric roadster, the Cyberster, in a concept form back in 2020, followed by the teaser of the car’s production-spec iteration in 2022. Well, here comes the EV in fully undisguised form long before we are supposed to see it officially. And as usual, the credit goes to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. 

The Chinese government filings not only offer the best look yet at the upcoming MG Cyberster but also unveiled the car’s specifications, which are as follows -

• According to the report, MG will offer the Cyberster in two powertrain options - single- and dual-motor
• The entry-level, single-motor version produces a maximum power of 309 hp, while the top-spec dual-motor kicks out 536 hp, making it the most powerful car ever made by the automaker
• The top speed of the electric roadster is rated at 124 mph (200 kmph) with the curb weight measuring quite light at 4,376 pounds (1985 kg)

• The report does not spill the beans on the EV’s battery capacities and driving range. However, at the time of introducing the concept, MG quoted a figure of 500 miles (800 km)
• Dimensionally, it measures 4,535 mm in length, 1,913 mm in width, and 1,329 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2,690 mm
• The filling also revealed several wheel patterns and badges that we are supposed to see on the final model
• Refuting the previous reports of switching the Cyberster nameplate with the MG C, the EV proudly wears the Cyberster badge on the boot lid

While the Chinese government filing does not offer any interior shot of the upcoming MG EV, the previously released teaser showcased a Tesla-style yoke steering wheel, a two-seating layout, and an electrically operated folding roof.

The official unveiling of the MG Cyberster is expected to take place in 2024, with deliveries in the UK and European markets soon to follow.
