Mike Song is Genesis’s new global head & executive VP

KUALA LUMPUR: New year calls for a new boss for Genesis, as the luxury automaker has announced Mike (Min Kyu) Song as its new global head and executive vice president. He will be assuming his new role starting January 1, 2023.

"I am honored to be part of Genesis' growing momentum around the world. I look forward to leading the Genesis organization to serve our customers, partners, and employees as we embrace these new changes," said Song.

As for Song’s current role in the company, he occupies the position of Chief Operating Officer, a role he will retain in addition to the new responsibilities. Therefore coming under his profile will be taking care of all worldwide business aspects along with accelerating the brand’s global presence. Furthermore, Song will also be tasked with the job of bringing a "clearer brand vision that places greater emphasis on customer experiences."

A brief about Song’s long-term association with Genesis -

Song joined Genesis or Hyundai Motor Group back in 1993, back then he held key positions at the automaker’s Middle East and North American offices. From there he went on to become the Head of Hyundai Motor Middle East and Africa.

He then joined Genesis in Jan 2020 wherein he led the brand’s global sales and was later (in 2021) promoted to the position of COO.

And now starting in 2023, Genesis "expects to make significant gains in profitability” all thanks to Song's "wide-ranging background as an industry veteran." Also, Song will help the brand in achieving its goal of introducing eight zero-emission models in its lineup by 2030.
