Shelby Mustang GT500 is on sale in Europe, price starts from RM 5,25,905

KUALA LUMPUR: The most famous Pony of the automotive world never ceases to amaze us, it turns the heads almost anywhere it runs. Now it gave another chance of cheer to its fans in the form of a more powerful version, which is now available in the European market. However, it is not from Ford. 

If you are satisfied with the existing version of Ford Mustang, powered by a naturally-aspirated unit producing 460 PS of maximum power, then you can grab the more powerful Shelby version. The new Shelby Mustang GT500 is powered by a 5.2-litre V8 engine,  which is tuned to produce a massive power of 760 hp and a whooping torque of 847 Nm. It is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission which is built by Tremec. The super Mustang can sprint from 0 to 96 kmph (60 mph) in just 3.5 seconds and has a quarter-mile time under 11 seconds.

Unfortunately, the supercharged 5.2-liter V8 unit does not meet the strict emission standards of Europe, that’s why Ford refused to sell the GT500. But this does not stop the importers, an Austrian company Peicher US-Cars has stepped up to import the super Mustang to the old continent. And, of course, you have to shell out many extra bucks to get your hand-on the super Mustang. 

The 2020 Mustang GT500 price starts from €109,990 ($121,462) for the standard trim and jumps to a high price tag of €154,990 ($171,156) for the Carbon Fiber Track Pack version. Though the pricing is too much considering the fact that it starts from $70,300 in the U.S., but if you remember, one of the Ford dealerships in the U.S. was trying to sell the Carbon Fiber Track Pack for $185,890, so the European ask price does not seem crazy.
