Shelby Reintroduces Cobra Daytona Coupe as a Limited-Edition Model
KUALA LUMPUR: The Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe is the eight-time winner of the eleven FIA-sanctioned races held in 1965, including the French and the German Grand Prix. This performance helped Shelby to earn the Manufacturer's Title. This was the first time an American company won a major international series.
Shelby American has announced to make Cobra Daytona Coupes in a limited number to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its racing achievement. There is a choice for customers to purchase an aluminium-bodied cobra or a fibreglass-bodied model. The aluminium-bodied coupe has played an important role in Shelby's victory in the World Championship on 4th July 1965. The fiberglass-bodied coupe resembles what the Daytona would have looked like if it was still in production.
The American manufacturer has utilized original blueprints and measurements in manufacturing both the cars. In order to maintain the retro-feel, both the cars carry features like leaf-spring suspension, a tubular chassis, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. Although many different types of paint colors are available, every car is decorated in black leather upholstery, a stronger frame and disc brakes.
No Cobra version comes with an engine. Customers are provided a facility to order a numbers-matching aluminum block 289-cubic-inch engine or they have a choice to install any mill, according to the capacity of the coupe's long hood.
